A fitness plan that bends when your week breaks
From brief to test-ready prototype in one month: research that overruled the original audience, and an AI fitness plan that bends when life does
I led UX on this 1-month course project, from research direction to a test-ready prototype. I used Claude, Figma Make and Gamma, with an evidence label and a manual check behind every AI-assisted output.
MY ROLE
THE CHALLENGE
The brief assumed busy professionals lacked time. Research did not support that. The real problem was a static plan meeting a variable life, and no competitor let users choose how much the AI decides.
WHAT I DID
Set up the AI workflow. Picked the tools, wrote a “not trusted for” line for each one, and set the source and ethics rules.
Interviews. Ran 5 user and 2 trainer interviews.
Competitor review. Compared Fitbod, Freeletics and Ladder on how they adapt and how much control users get.
Market scan. Mapped spending and the main players, and found the gap in coaching that works without a device.
Synthesis and report. Coded 12 themes, kept only findings backed by two source types, and wrote the stakeholder report including journey map, and personas.
Design and prototype. Wrote the brief and built a Figma Make prototype, then audited it against WCAG 2.2 AA.
User testing. Planned 5 moderated sessions on a real phone, with the tasks and acceptance criteria set in advance.
THE OUTCOME
Avoided building for an unsupported audience by reframing the target user around people returning after a disruption
Designed a weekly plan that survives a bad week, aimed at the category’s weak spot: keeping subscribers
Created a differentiator no reviewed competitor offers: users have control over AI input and can choose how much the it decides
